Safety has always been our priority and all our staff are COVID vaccinated. As a super-specialty eye hospital our processes and procedures were already at par with world-class safety standards. Now we are a Covid19 compliant hospital as well. To assure our patients of their safety, we’d like to share the following changes that we have adapted in our practice:

Strict screening protocol at the entrance
  • Screening desk at the entrance manned by a trained paramedical staff.
  • Every person uses hand sanitizer at the entry point.
  • Body temperature is noted.
  • Masks are mandatory for all. If a patient enters without a mask, the hospital will provide one.
  • Self declaration form and consent to be filled by every patient.
  • Only one attendant allowed per patient.

At Shubhanu Eye Hospital follows a principle of comprehensive eye examination rather than just addressing the presenting symptom. The basic tests that the patients are likely to encounter during a routine eye examination includes visual acuity testing, refraction (Estimation of power of spectacles of individual), Slit lamp examination, tonometry, dilated retinal examination and other necessary tests, which are prescribed according to the condition of the patient’s eye. It may take 1 to 2 hours for a complete eye examination. If, after the check up, doctors suggest examination by other specialists, the process may take 3 to 4 hours for additional tests.

 Frequently Asked Question?

We like to make sure that & patients are not made to wait for long. Some consultations can take longer than normal or there may be a sudden emergency needing attention. Hence, yes, we request you to make prior appointments.

This is my first visit to your clinic. Should I bring my old prescription glasses?
Yes, please bring your glass / contact lens prescription and your old glasses and a list of your current medications or simply bring your medicines along. This helps us to understand your medical history. Here is a Step by Step Guide for a new patient.

For most ailments of the eye, dilating the eye helps in the diagnosis and hence your eyes have to be dilated. Dilatation drops will be applied to both your eyes, at intervals of ten minutes. While eyes are being dilated, you may experience mild discomfort after the first drop. Dilatation may take between 15-30 minutes and you can be comfortably seated in our lobby.

After dilatation of the eyes, the pupil of the eye will stay slightly dilated for a couple of hours. So avoid driving vehicles after dilatation. It is always safe to have an attendant with you.

We will first evaluate your eyes. You will undergo a series of investigations and tests to see if surgery can be recommended to you. Next, we provide Counseling to prepare you for surgery and choose a new lens also called Intraocular Lens (IOL) for the implant. An IOL (Foldable) is a clear, plastic lens that requires no care and becomes a permanent part of your eye. You can select from a wide choice of IOLs based on physiological and occupational needs.

The surgery is an in-patient procedure and you will be given Local anesthesia / Topical anesthesia / General anesthesia.

The whole procedure usually takes 30 minutes. You will be monitored in our recovery room for a couple of hours and then you will be discharged right away. With proper post operative care, you can get back to normal life in a week’s time.
